little things i love

Call me a sentimental fool, but this made me smile this morning:

Today was just one of those happy homey kind of days, and those days just breathe contentment to me. The day felt long (enough), and I spent most of it just hanging around the house and 'hood, doing nothing special yet it was all just extraordinary.

• The day started off with a coffee and possibly the tastiest blueberry lemon scone I've ever had (I demolished it before I even managed to get a photo of it.)
• A little shopping all within four blocks from our house: to my favourite (although not visited enough) bulk food store, to the local butcher shop, to another bakery for a good loaf, and to a floral shop I can never manage to not stop in to when I'm passing by (and I'm always passing by). I just really adore my neighbourhood.
• Housecleaning: which is always either the worst thing in the world, or the best. Today, definitely the best.
• A full day of sunshine: that helped to make up for the dump of snow we got last night (and shovelled out from this morning). Repeating the mantra "It's March, spring really really can't be THAT far off" also sort of helps.

little things I love

Sometimes, the simplest thing can make my day perfect. Today, it's falling in love with gladiola flowers that I picked up on a whim.

Also making the list of little things I'm lovin' today:

• Hockey day in Canada with my fellas and some Madelinetosh on my lap. Nothing goes better with hockey than knitting.
• A sweet little snowfall outside.
• Discovering a delicious new tea.
• Finally getting the Christmas decorations put away. Organization has to be one of the most satisfying things. In the world. 
• A morning that got going perfectly with a hair appointment and two good cups of coffee.
